Services I Offer as a VA

Deciding what type of VA I wanted to be was pretty difficult. Bookkeeping, graphic design, general, systems, etc. The list goes on and on.

I knew what I chose would need to be something I could do flexibly. Meaning because I have a full-time job, I would need to do the tasks outside of the normal 9-5 schedule. So that narrowed down the list of options.

Where I landed as a starting point was Web Design because it was something I could do on my own time. Creating a website is great! I love all the options and looks you can do to a website. Still, it is also very tedious: adding the brand colors and fonts, adding buttons and links, making sure the hover colors on links and buttons are on brand, formatting text and images, adding headers and footers, social media links, etc. Y’all, the list goes on and on.

I began with creating my own website with Wix but also wanted to learn WordPress as many websites are created on that platform. I took courses, listened to podcasts, and created 4 websites just to practice on. Let me tell you, WordPress is a different kind of beast! It’s pretty difficult to use unless you have some knowledge of the program. Sometimes even making an update can be a headache (speaking from experience).

If creating my own website while I start my business is this tedious, I can only imagine how other entrepreneurs who are currently in business and trying to get their website up would feel. It’s hard to do all these things on your own.

After creating a few websites for clients, I decided I needed to add to my services. I wanted any new services to complement web design. I connected with a dream client who needed help with formatting her blog posts on her WordPress website. I later picked up another dream client who was a YouTuber and needed help adding and formatting her blog posts to her Squarespace website. I decided to add that to my services, Blog Post Management.

They both also asked me to handle creating Pinterest graphics for their blog and getting them scheduled. Another excellent service to add, Pinterest Management.

A few months later I picked up yet another dream client who needed help in a few different areas and managing aspects of her podcast was one of them. Ta-da, the next service to round out my list, Podcast Management.

What I learned from working with these dream clients is that I wanted my niche to be helping Online Educators!

Picking the right services is key to building a successful VA business. You want to make sure they are tasks that you enjoy, I mean, that’s why we started our own businesses right?
